Help with setting up and using TahtX. If you can't find your answer here, write to us at iletisim@tahtx.app.

What you need

  • An iPad or iPhone with iOS 13 or later and TahtX from the App Store. TahtX also runs on Android tablets; write to us for the Android version.
  • A network camera that supports ONVIF or RTSP, or the TahtX box. Most IP cameras support at least one of them.
  • The tablet and the camera on the same network.

Connect to the camera

  1. Open TahtX and tap Settings.
  2. Under Camera Settings, enter the camera's IP Address, Username and Password. Leave Port at 80 unless your camera uses a different ONVIF port.
  3. Tap Test to check the connection, then tap Save.
  4. Tap Connect. The live board appears on the screen.

If your camera doesn't support ONVIF, enter its stream address in Manual RTSP URL (optional). You can find this address in the camera's manual.

Show only the board

  1. Tap Region.
  2. Drag the four corners onto the corners of the board.
  3. Tap Apply. Only the board now fills the screen.

If you move the camera, select the region again. To start over, tap Reset Region Selection in Settings.

Make the board easier to read

  • Zoom: pinch with two fingers to zoom in up to ten times. Double-tap to zoom in quickly, and double-tap again to zoom back out.
  • Reading mode: tap Filters and turn on Whiteboard Mode under Whiteboard Enhancement. It removes glare and shadows and makes the writing stand out clearly. For a chalkboard, choose Dark Board.
  • Colors: in Filters, choose a pair under Color Themes that suits your eyes, for example Yellow on Black.
  • Bigger buttons: in Settings, set UI Size under Appearance to Large or Extra Large.

Troubleshooting

I get "Connection Error" or the board doesn't appear

Check that the tablet and the camera are on the same network, and that the IP address, username and password are correct. You can find the camera's IP address in your router or in the camera's own app.

Many cameras need ONVIF turned on in their settings, sometimes with a separate ONVIF user. If ONVIF still doesn't work, enter the camera's RTSP address in Manual RTSP URL.

On iPad and iPhone, open Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network, and make sure TahtX is turned on.

The picture is slow or freezes

The video travels over Wi-Fi. Move the tablet closer to the Wi-Fi access point or the TahtX box, and avoid heavy downloads on the same network during class. Tap Disconnect, then Connect again.

Reading mode makes the board too dark or too light

Under Whiteboard Enhancement, try the Soft or Hard preset, or adjust Threshold, Sharpness and Brightness until the writing is clear.

Reading mode has no effect on my Android tablet

Some older Android tablets don't support the graphics feature reading mode needs. Zoom and color themes still work on them.

Privacy

TahtX collects no personal data. The video stays between the camera and the tablet. Read the privacy policy.
